The Ohio State Fair's mascot celebrates its 10th birthday this year with a big change – a new name. From now on, the former "Cowman" will respond to "Butters," a moniker chosen by Facebook fans in an online contest.

For a period of four weeks, fairgoers were invited to submit their ideas for the mascot's new name. Hundreds of amazing, creative names were submitted, with the winning name being nominated by both Genna Quinlan of Westerville and Matt Gross of Casstown.  Each winner of the Facebook contest was awarded with tickets to the WCOL Celeste Center concert of his or her choice, a night's stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown and the opportunity to walk in the Fair's parade.
A special birthday celebration was held on Opening Day at the Fair on the Gazebo Stage at which the name was announced. Butters D. Cow will continue to be a beloved tradition at the Ohio State Fair, new name and all. To keep up on all of our mascot's adventures, be sure to follow @OhioStateFair on Twitter.
