Go beyond the fun with learning opportunities at the Fair. Swing by the Ohio Connections Academy Youth Center for dozens of educational displays, demonstrations and competitions.

Agriculture

Visit the “Agriculture is Cool” interactive education stations across the grounds. Ride a tractor simulator, witness eggs being hatched and learn how agriculture is a part of your daily life.

Animals

There are nearly 20,000 animals on-grounds during the Fair. Take this opportunity to learn about exotic animals and livestock. You will see more than 20 amphibians at the Snakes Alive! show with Reptile Rick and Jungle Jenny Teepen. Or, learn what goes on below the surface at the captivating Live Shark Encounter. You can milk a cow and see baby farm animals and new mothers at the OVMA Veterinary Education Center inside the Wick Pavilion. Of course, a visit to the Petting Zoo and the Fair’s various livestock buildings lets you get up close and personal with many species. Don’t forget to swing through the Natural Resources Park and stroll on the wildlife boardwalk for glimpses of Ohio’s native wildlife including bald eagles, hawks, owls, and even a bobcat and fox. After that walk through the aviary and butterfly house for up close encounters that will be unforgettable!

History

Visit an authentic Civil War Camp right here at the Ohio State Fair to discover how Ohio played a role in the Civil War. You’ll experience everything about soldiers’ lives during the Civil War, including how they prepared meals and made weaponry while at war.

Science

The STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) hub is the Ohio Connections Academy Youth Center. With extreme hands-on science experimentation at The Ohio State University’s “Phun with Physics” booth to making rockets and racing air-powered dragsters at the Time Warner Cable Technology and Engineering Education Showcase.
