The KiddieLand was incredible. Best thing that ever happened at the fair for families with kids in the 3-6 year old range. My son could have ridden the 20+ rides all day long.

We use to come as a family along with our grandpa in the 60's. Our grandpa would ride rides with us he was in his 80's and loved every minute of it. As a kid they had a lot more things to by back then. With more buildings and more mechandise in it. I still go every year, but miss the old days.

I was taken to the fair every year from 1980 (the year I was born) till 1996. This year will be my first year back, and this time, I get to bring my daughter.

So many memories from my early days in
4-H to the year 1965 when I was a member of the Ohio State Fair Chior. We sang for so many building dedications, but my fondest memory was marching into the coliseum singing a few songs, the ending with the Battle Hymn of the Republic with Governor Rhoades directing us. We have tried to attend every year since. I love the fair and entertainment!!!

I remember going to the fair with my mother and my grandmother. We walked the whole place and I loved the fair food. The games were so much fun. Now that I am a mother I take my daughter and we see all the same attractions. The Ohio State Fair is a Family tradition. To miss the fair is like missing the end of summer.

My favorite Ohio State Fair memory is when I was about ten years old in 1986. My whole family was there:mom, dad, sisters, brother, uncles, and aunts. Both my uncles and dad had tried their luck numerous times at the ring toss game and lost. I said I wanted to try, and they all laughed at me, but considered themselves "indulging" me when my dad paid for me to play. I won on the 1st try! I tossed all 3 rings around the tiny neck of that glass bottle and won a stuffed dog! It was the best feeling to see their faces with a new sense of admiration on them. I've taken my 2 sons numerous times since they have been born, but this year, my sisters and I are going without our children so that we can reminisce about our childhood together!*

Sitting in the grandstand with my Gramma waiting to see Ruth Lyons...eating corn on the cob... petting the horses in the barns...buying lavendar sachets for 50 cents....napping in the Natural Resources Area. After 50 years of attending, still try to recreate as much of that as possible every year.

My friends and I began going to the O.S.Fair in 1978 when we were in grad. school at OSU in Fine Arts. For many years we were fortunate to get to exhibit our Art in the Cox Fine Arts building. I used to exhibit my Art furniture and my friends did paintings. We still always enjoy the Fine Arts exhibits. I also saw my 1st Freak Show at the fair in 1979. We also love to sample all the classic fair foods.

I'm 58 years old now and because my dad and grandpa loved the fair, we've been going all our lives. I remember fondly, the talking cardinal on cardinal island and collecting all the pamphlets we could get. We never rode the rides (our parents told us they were not part of the fair but another place all together!). We went to see the animals and the farm exhibits. We saw/met so many famous people when the concerts were free: Sonny & Cher, the Bee Gees, Mason Williams, Herman's Hermits, Red Skelton, Johnny Tillotson, the Statler Brothers, Merl Haggard and Dolly Parton just to name a few. We always had to have an ear of corn. Mmmm! I have arthritis in my knees & hip now so have to have a wheelchair, but still love to go when I can & certainly hope to be there this year.
