My favorite memory of the fair is fishing at the wildlife area and stopping on the way in and out to listen to the giant Smokey the Bear. We were lousy fisherman any other time but amazingly we could always catch a fish at the State Fair. It was fun to get it wrapped and have it put in the refrigerator and pick it up on the way home. Sometimes we would take them turn them loose on the other side of the pond because Mom didn't want to mess with the blood and guts.

my favorite memory of the ohio state fair was seeing sonny and cher. i was a young girl and thought cher was the most beautiful, stylish woman i had ever seen. after eating hot, buttery corn, cotton candy, homeade ice cream it was a relief to sit down and watch their act. one year i saw juice newton with my mom and a friend, not as exciting but still great.a few years ago, as a parent, my kids won several goldfish that we threw in our pond. they thrived for many years. we're going back this year to restock. we love the fair!
