June 3	Entry deadline at 1 p.m. (all entry information, payment and uploaded images must be received).
June 10	Acceptance/Non-acceptance notices will be mailed.
June 13	Artwork drop off, noon-8 p.m., Cox Fine Arts Center
June 14	Artwork drop off, noon-8 p.m., Cox Fine Arts Center
June 15	Artwork drop off, 9 a.m.-noon, Cox Fine Arts Center
July 23 - 25	On-site Plein Air Painting Competition (check in at Cox Fine Arts Center).
July 25	Awards for Plein Air Painting Competition at 6:30 p.m.
July 25 - 27	Mural Competition
July 27	Awards for Mural Competition at 5 p.m.
August 3	Artist Pickup, 8–9 p.m. Entry to grounds not permitted between 6-7 p.m., Cox Fine Arts Center
August 4	Artist Pickup, 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Cox Fine Arts Center
August 5	Artist Pickup, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Cox Fine Arts Center

Mural Competition 2025

Returning for the second year, the Ohio State Fair Mural Competition! This competition will take place during the Fair from July 25 to July 27 on the lawn of the Cardinal Patio.

Timeline

June 21 at 1 p.m. – deadline to submit artwork and artist bio (online registration link can be found here in early April)
June 28 – acceptance/non-acceptance notices emailed
July 25 – painting from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
July 26 – painting from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
July 27 – painting from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
July 27 – awards ceremony at 5 p.m.

Details

Only 10 artists will be accepted. The following will be provided:

4x8 piece of primed wood
10x10 area for each artist
Daily admission to the Fair during the mural competition
$100 stipend

Awards

First Place: $1,000
Second Place: $750
Third Place: $250

Winner forms

Forms to be completed by those who receive $499 or more in premium winnings. All exhibitors who win $499 or more in premiums must use this link to visit the State of Ohio Supplier website using the link above. If you have previously registered with the state as a supplier in previous years, you do not need to register again. If not completed, your premium payment cannot be processed.
